For most people, back to to school shopping involves getting new clothes and backpacks, exchanging worn out jeans for fresh new ones, and stocking up on brand new #2 pencils.  For me, this time of summer is the most exciting! I get elated when I see back-to-school flyers! Feelings of euphoria fill me as I dream of what the new school year will bring. I started a wish-list here so I can pace myself with these purchases.  It's so easy to spend my entire paycheck on classroom supplies :). Since I am not an "official" classroom teacher, I don't receive any school supplies from students for use in my classroom. That financial responsibility falls on me. The summer break is about half-way over and I have enjoyed every second of it!  I was fortunate enough to be able to take a week long vacation to Okaloosa Island, Florida.  Okaloosa is right between Ft. Walton Beach and Destin.  The sand was a beautiful, white, and fluffy.  The temperature was pleasant- 70's and 80's.  We spent our days sleeping late, bonding with my family from Louisiana (we all shared a condo!), playing in the waves, and checking out what the local beach town had to offer.

I am looking forward to hearing from my students about their summers.  Even if they didn't get the chance to travel far, talking about their summer always provides great opportunity for rich conversation.  I hope they took advantage of the speech folders I gave them (and maybe even practiced a little. :))  Have a safe and fun summer!
